If you are not able to access your Hotmail account or forgot your password then you can recover your Hotmail account by following few steps. Make sure you have your phone number or email address associated with your Hotmail account that you want to recover.

Step 1: Open the Outlook.com/homepage: Hotmail account is also called Outlook and can also be accessed by logging into outlook.com sign in page.

* All inactive accounts can be recovered up to 365 days since the last time you logged in. And if you have not accessed your account over a year or more than a year it would be deleted.

* Hotmail account gets deleted permanently within 30 days if you do not retrieve or reactive again after manually deactivating your account.

Step 2: You will see a option “Can’t access your account?”:- Below Sign in you will find this option, just click on that.

Step 3:- There would be 3 options on the screen. You need to select “I forgot my password” and then Click “Next”.

Step 4:- Then in the box “Microsoft account” on the screen, you need to enter you Hotmail Email Address that you want to open. Also fill the Captcha and then click “Next”.

Step 5:- Verification Process: To reset your page you need to follow one of the few steps to verify your identity. Verification depends on contact preference that you have set when you opened an account. There are 4 steps to verify.

i. Email - Type in the secondary email address that you had mentioned for recovery of your account. A verification code will be sent on that email address.

ii. Text- For this option you need to enter your mobile number that you have put in when you first time created this account. A unique verification code would be sent on your mobile number.

iii. Use an app – If you have installed the Microsoft Account app in your mobile phone then you can also use that app to generate a unique verification code.

iv. Don’t have any information- There is an option called “I don’t have any of these”. If you do not remember your mobile number or secondary email address associated with you account then click on “I don’t have any of these”. After clicking a questionnaire will open in front of you for you to answer. This will prove your identity with Microsoft. Make sure you remember some old details about your account.

Step 6. Fill the answers of the questions asked by Microsoft. Questions like your previous password, account creation date, questions related to your account usage etc. Try to answer all the questions correctly. Hotmail Tech Support Australia Team will match your answer with the answer that you given at the time of account creation and if that matches your account would be recovered. This process may take few days.

Step 7 Get you verification code: You must have received the verification code on your mobile number or email address or to whichever mode you have chosen.

Email- If your chosen verification method is email then in new Tab login to your secondary email address and check verification email. It can be in Inbox or Spam. Open the mail.

Step 8. Enter the code: The unique code that you have received enter that in the Hotmail page in the code box. If you have closed that page by mistake then you can again open it by following the same steps.

Step 9. Create a new password: Once you enter the verification code, you will be taken to account reset page. You will be given an option to create a new password that you will use to access your Hotmail account in future. Make sure you create a strong password which is easy to remember and do not share it with anyone.
